DoH reports 1,738 new Covid cases

The Philippines logged 1,738 new cases of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Monday, bringing the active number of cases to 27,369, or 6.7 percent of the overall case count of 409,574, according to the Department of Health.

Most of the active cases were mild and asymptomatic.

Davao City registered the highest number of new cases at 140, followed by Cavite, Rizal, Laguna and Batangas.

Forty-five people recovered from the viral disease, for a total of 374,366 recoveries, or 91.4 percent of the overall number of cases, while seven people were confirmed to have died from the disease, for a total of 7,839 deaths or 1.91 percent of the total.

Worldwide, Covid-19 cases have reached 54.39 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University, with 1.317 million fatalities.
