LUCENA CITY — For the first time this month, no death from the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was recorded in Batangas on April 24 but the surge of new virus carriers in the province continues.
The Batangas provincial health office (PHO), in its bulletin issued at 3 p.m. Saturday, reported that the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the province since January still stands at 300 since April 23.
At least 183 deaths from COVID-19 were recorded from April 1 to 23, an average of eight fatalities daily.
Last year, the province recorded 364 fatalities, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 664 since the pandemic was declared in March last year.
