Gov’t revises suggested retail prices list

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has revised anew its set of suggested retail prices (SRPs) for basic agricultural commodities less than a week since it since it imposed them.

In a statement on Friday, the agency said the price adjustments were in response to the changing cost structures in the supply chain, adding that higher food prices have been observed because of logistical constraints and the adverse effect of the recent typhoons.

There have been increases in SRPs of selected commodities especially in vegetables, which the DA said was imposed to “allow retailers to realize a reasonable profit while ensuring that consumers are protected from profiteering.”
