MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has allowed the government to enter into advance market commitments with private vaccine developers and the release of advance payments to them to ensure the supply of COVID-19 vaccines.
In a televised Palace press briefing Thursday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte approved the proposal of Philippine vaccine czar and National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. to ensure that the Philippines will not be left behind in the race for the procurementof the coronavirus vaccines.
