CITY OF CALAPAN—Authorities on Tuesday (March 16) locked down at least 13 villages in Mamburao, capital of Occidental Mindoro province, following a surge in COVID-19 cases there.
Mamburao Mayor Angelina Tria requested the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) of the Mimaropa region to approve the lockdown of the villages after 19 new COVID-19 cases had been recorded in one day alone last March 15.
A letter by Wilhelm Suyko, regional IATF chair, said two villages—Poblacion 7 ad Payompon—had been ordered placed on enhanced community quarantine. Nine other villages had been placed on modified community quarantine.
