US, Japan and South Korea agree to keep up pressure on North Korea

WASHINGTON — The United States, South Korea and Japan agreed on Friday to work to resolve the issue of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs “through concerted trilateral cooperation towards denuclearization,” a joint statement said.

The statement followed a day of talks between new U.S. President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, and his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Kitamura, and South Korea’s national security adviser, Suh Hoon.
