Tokyo restaurants, bars resume serving alcohol

TOKYO — Restaurants and bars in Tokyo and other prefectures resumed serving alcohol on Monday after the state of emergency ended, on the condition that thorough prevention measures are taken.

Tokyo Sumidagawa Brewing Bar Style, a beer hall in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, reopened on the day after being closed for about two months. Customers eagerly drank the beer from the brewery attached to the restaurant.

The state of emergency ended in 10 prefectures, including Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka, and switched to emergency-level priority measures through July 11. The restrictions under the priority measures will be similar to those under the state of emergency.
