One of the best scorers among current NBA players surpassed a record set by one of the greatest scorers in league history on Monday.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry sank a layup late in the first quarter against the Denver Nuggets in San Francisco to break Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time franchise scoring record.

Curry, 33, entered the night needing 19 points to surpass Chamberlain. He ended the first quarter with 21 points and had 30 by halftime. He finished with 53 in the Warriors’ 116-107 win to give him 17,818 career points.
