MANILA, Philippines — Allegations made by the chief of the government’s intelligence agency triggered fear and anxiety among Senate workers, whose union has been accused of being the “eyes and ear” of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) in the upper chamber.
“Hindi kami ini-spare dito. Kaya nakakatakot, may chilling effect sa mga empleyado [We were not spared. That’s why it’s scary, there’s a chilling effect among employees],” Rosel Eugenio, president of Sandigan ng mga Empleyadong Nagkakaisa sa Adhikain ng Demokratikong Organisasyon (Senado), said in an online press conference Friday.
