ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Philippines — The Iligan City Police Office issued on Saturday a warning to the public of the possible proliferation of fake bills, a day after the owner of a food store reported receiving a fake 1,000-peso bill as payment.
Col. Rolando Cuya Jr., Iligan City police chief, said the unwitting worker at a food store was given the fake bill.
The store owner doubted the authenticity of the bill, but the customer was quick to flee to avoid being confronted.
According to Cuya, said the fake bill used is a bit smaller than a real one. But in hurried transactions, it can pass off as real “because it really looks and feels like the true bill.”
