Pagasa: Scattered rains, cloudy skies expected due to southwest monsoon, LPA

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility is likely to enhance the southwest monsoon in the coming days, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

The LPA was spotted 1,600 kilometers east of Central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

While it has a minimal chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, it may boost the prevailing southwest monsoon.
