OLONGAPO CITY —- The city government launched Tuesday its 911 emergency hotline during its 55th cityhood anniversary.
Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the system was tested and fine-tuned while essential personnel were trained according to the 911 system in the U.S.
He said the city handled the calls made via the 911 system in Metro Manila when it bogged down recently.
“I’m proud that we are more than capable [to carry out] this system. This is another achievement for the city,” Paulino said in a statement.
He added: “Now Olongapeos will just have to remember 911 and not every hotline number for emergencies, such as fire, accidents, or medical emergencies.”
