TAGBILARAN CITY —- A newly born baby succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the youngest person to die of the disease in Bohol province.
Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson of the Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF), said the infant, whose parents came from Maribojoc town, was born prematurely at a private hospital in Tagbilaran.
Lopez said the infant developed “respiratory distress” after birth.
“It died after four days from birth,” he said.
The infant was the 20th COVID-19 fatality in the province.
As of Friday, Bohol has 959 COVID-19 cases with 827 recoveries and 20 deaths. It has 112 active cases.
