MANILA, Philippines — National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Counter-Terrorism Division chief Raoul Manguerra died of “accidental firing,” Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Friday.
Guevarra told reporters in a text message that there was no foul play in Manguerra’s death earlier this week
“Accidental fire, that was what the NBI OIC-chief briefly told me and Atty. Manguerra’s widow this morning,” Guevarra said.
“By who fired, he [NBI chief Eric Distor] did not elaborate. I have asked for an official report,” he further said, adding that”foul play, however, appears to be out of the question.”
