MANILA, Philippines — The Makabayan bloc hit the Anti-Terror Council (ATC) for branding 19 suspected leaders of the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army as terrorists despite ongoing hearings on the constitutionality of the new anti-terror law.
In a press briefing on Thursday, Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdinand Gaite lashed at the council for trying to act as the “judge, jury, and executioner” against suspected terrorists, and in “jumping the gun” on the Supreme Court, which has yet to rule on the petitions questioning the legality of the Anti-Terrorism Law (ATL) is still being questioned in the Supreme Court.
