Maguindanao town cop sacked after terrorist attack

COTABATO CITY—The chief of police of Datu Piang town, Maguindanao province has been relieved of his duties following a raid by Islamic State-linked Moro gunmen on the town’s military and police outposts last week.

Brig. Gen. Samuel Rodriguez, police chief of the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), on Monday (Dec. 7) ordered the relief of Capt. Israel Bayona, Datu Piang police chief. He was replaced by Maj. Alexander Butuan, former police chief of Shariff Aguak, another town in Maguindanao.
