CEBU CITY—The “swab-upon-arrival” policy of Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia for returning Filipinos from abroad has gained more support.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu Chapter both asked the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging and Infectious Diseases (IATF) to adopt Cebu province’s policy as stipulated under Provincial Ordinance 2021-04 and Garcia’s executive order.

“Returning Cebu residents no longer have to undergo quarantine for 10 days or more. Upon arrival, they have to be swabbed. After the negative results are out, they are sent home. After seven days, the second swab will be done by the LGU (local government unit),” …
