Gov’t stops workers bound for Saudi Arabia

The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) has suspended the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Saudi Arabia after reports that OFWs headed for the kingdom were required to pay for health tests and insurance premiums.

Bernard Olalia, administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), confirmed to Inquirer.net that he received a memorandum from Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III ordering the suspension.
