MANILA, Philippines — Former national team boxer Genebert Basadre, a gold medal winner in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games, passed away on Sunday. He was 35.
The Association of Boxing Allainces in the Philippines (Abap) announced Basadre’s passing in a statement.
“The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (Abap) announces with deep sorrow the passing of former national boxer Genebert Basadre of Cagayan de Oro City,” said the sporting association in a statement Sunday.
Basadre, who also won a bronze medal in the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, left the national team in 2010 to further his career with the Philippine Army.
