MANILA, Philippines — Dark fantasy movie Fan Girl has come out of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Awards Night as the biggest winner, securing the Best Picture Award while lead stars Paulo Avelino and Charlize Dizon and director Antonette Jadaone bagged individual plums.
During the MMFF Gabi ng Parangal held remotely on Sunday, the film has Avelino portraying himself with Dizon as a fangirl. The film also bagged the coveted Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography awards.
The movie received critical acclaim for taking on a controversial subject: The obsession of fans with celebrities and actresses.
