Duterte OKs bill lowering height limit for uniformed personnel

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law a bill that lowers the minimum height requirement for police and other uniformed personnel.

Republic Act No. 11549 amends the Philippine National Police (PNP) chapter that sets the minimum requirement at 1.62 meters for male and 1.57 meters for female applicants to the national police force, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

Under the new law, the minimum height requirement for male applicants will be lowered to 1.57 meters and female applicants to 1.52 meters.
