MANILA, Philippines — Around 100,000 Filipinos are awaiting the resumption of deployment of household service workers (HSWs) to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which will take effect by the end of March, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Wednesday.
“Marami ‘yan. Isang daang libo,” Bello said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel when asked about the number of Filipinos waiting for the resumption of the deployment and are applying to become HSWs in the UAE.
Bello said many Filipinos want to work in the UAE because of higher salaries and fair treatment to household workers.
