MANILA, Philippines — Total active COVID-9 cases in the country rose to 173,047 as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 8,122 new infections.
The new cases brought the country’s total COVID-19 cases to 892,880.
DOH data showed there were additional 501 recoveries, raising the number of patients who have survived the disease to 704,386. However, there were 162 additional patients who have died, brining the death toll to 15,447.
The DOH said active cases represent 19.4 percent of the total count, while recoveries account for 78.9 percent and deaths make up 1.73 percent.
Of the active cases, 98.7 percent are mild and asymptomatic.
