MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) warned politicians on Saturday against using their name, photo, or any image in connection with the distribution of aid, or “ayuda,” to residents of the National Capital Region Plus, which is under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
NCR Plus is composed of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna.
“The use of the ayuda for partisan political purposes for the 2022 national elections is strictly prohibited. The DILG will not tolerate the politicization of government aid or tolerate the practice when we see it or made aware of it,” Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, DILG spokesperson, said.
