MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) was able to record more than 32,800 violations from May 12, to May 16, for not wearing face masks.
During a briefing aired Tuesday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Ao said there were 32,867 violations recorded during the week—most of which were only warned and fined.
Of this number, Ao said 15,556 were given warnings; 14,066 were fined or cited; 2,308 were asked to do community service; and 937 were arrested.
Ao noted a decline in the number of face mask violators.
