DFA reports 22 new cases of COVID among Filipinos overseas; total now at 18,479

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 22 new COVID-19 cases were reported among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total number of infected Filipinos overseas to 18,479, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

Active cases are at 6,026 as of May 6, while 14 new recoveries bring the total number of discharged COVID-19 patients overseas to 11,306.

No new deaths, on the other hand, were reported.

According to the DFA’s data, COVID-positive Filipinos are found in 94 countries around the globe.

Based on the data the DFA provided, there are 10,453 cases in the Middle East and Africa, 3,659 are in the Asia-Pacific region, 3,386 in Europe, and 981 in the Americas.
