DFA: COVID-19 sickens 226 more Filipinos abroad, seven others succumb to illness

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Wednesday 226 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos living overseas.

Based on the latest figures of DFA, the new infections pushed the total number of Filipinos abroad who contracted the new coronavirus disease to 20,661.

“The reported spike is due to [a] surge in COVID-19 cases reported in one country in the Middle East,” DFA noted.

The government agency also logged 120 new recoveries as well as seven new fatalities, increasing the death count to 1,227.
