MANILA, Philippines — To improve skills on handling finances of learners and teachers, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday said that it has “expanded and intensified” the integration of financial education to the K to 12 curriculum.
The DepEd issued the Financial Education Policy to “help learners and teaching and non-teaching personnel make sound financial decisions” by including financial lessons in school activities.
It cited a survey from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas showing that 41 percent of Filipinos can only answer one of three financial literacy questions correctly and only eight percent can answer three.
