MANILA, Philippines —Eight out of 144 hospitals in Metro Manila were placed under critical level in terms of bed capacity solely for COVID-19 patients, based on data from the Department of Health (DOH) as of December 23.
The latest figures from the DOH showed that two more hospitals were added under the “critical level” from six hospitals last Dec. 18. However, the previous data comprised of only 139 hospitals.
Of the hospitals under “critical” level, only the Bernardino General Hospital II reached 100 percent bed occupancy.
The DOH classifies occupancy levels for COVID-19 beds in health centers as either critical, high risk, moderate, or safe.
