MANILA, Philippines — Some 4.28 tons of “unregistered and hazardous” goods including cosmetics and food products were recently destroyed to avoid being sold in the market, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported Friday.
The BOC-NAIA said the items were condemned last December 7 in Trece Martires City in Cavite in a move to protect the public from goods that are “harmful and unfit” for consumption.
The goods were destroyed using the Thermal Decomposer (Pyrolysis) Facility of the Integrated Waste Management Inc. (IWMI) to ensure that these items will not be sold or made available in the market, the BOC said.
