Another tropical depression looms – BusinessWorld Online

ANOTHER low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility had a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the LPA formerly known as Luis had weakened as of 2 p.m., it said.
About 3,700 people from more than 1,200 families have evacuated due to Tropical Depression Luis and the enhanced southwest monsoon, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) separately said.
The displaced people were among the more than 9,300 people affected by bad weather, OCD Deputy Spokesman Diego Agustin Mariano said on Tuesday.
More than P1.2 million in assistance has been provided. No casualties or property damage have been reported.
The OCD reported 18 flooded areas in Regions I and IX and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. It also identified 398 villages in Region II, the Cordillera Administrative Region and Mimaropa as susceptible to flooding and landslides. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
