MANILA, Philippines — Jerwin Ancajas picked up where he left off and retained his IBF super flyweight title Sunday (Manila time) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, USA.
Ancajas (33-1-2, 22 KOs) successfully defended his crown for the ninth time after a unanimous decision win over a tough-as-nails Jonathan Rodriguez (22-2, 16 KOs) in a bruising battle.
The judges scored the bout, 115-112, 116-111 and 117-110.
The 29-year-old Filipino scored the only knockdown in the fight went he floored the Mexican challenger after series of punches late in the eighth round.
