Active COVID-19 cases in House rise to 43; total cases at 277

MANILA, Philippines — There have been 277 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among the members and personnel of the House of Representatives since the pandemic started last year, Secretary General Mark Llandro Mendoza disclosed Tuesday.

Mendoza said that of the 277 infections, 43 remain active, 227 have recovered, and seven have succumbed to the disease.

The most recent cases of COVID-19 among lawmakers include Majority Leader Martin Romualdez and Negros Oriental Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong.

Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor also disclosed earlier that he contracted the disease.
