Agri damage from ‘Ulysses’ soars to P3.8B

The Department of Agriculture on Wednesday reported that damage to agriculture from Typhoon Ulysses grew to P3.84 billion.

Data from the DA’s Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Operation Center showed that 104,733 farmers and fisherfolk were affected by the typhoon. The volume of production losses was 160,873 metric tons in 101,904 hectares of agricultural areas in several areas.

The affected commodities include rice, corn, high value crops, fisheries, livestock, irrigation facilities, and agricultural infrastructures in Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Bicol Region.

The agricultural damage from three typhoons reached P11.34 billion – P5 billion from Typhoon Rolly (Goni) and P2.7 billion from Typhoon Quinta (Molave).
