Livestock supplier sounds alarm on declining supply in Cebu

CEBU CITY — A local supplier of livestock animals is seeking a dialogue with Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia in view of the decreasing supply of livestock like cows, carabaos, and goats in the province.

According to Victoriano Pagador, he requested Garcia to ban the export of livestock outside the province to ensure there is enough supply for Cebuano consumers.

Pagador fears that if Cebu continues to export livestock outside Cebu, there will be a shortage of supply.

“The price of beef is starting to increase in our markets,” he said.

From P190, a kilo of beef now costs P210. In Manila, he said a kilo of beef is now at P270.
