TD Emong, LPA, and ‘habagat’ bring rains, thunderstorms over PH

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of the country are expected to have rains and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to Tropical Depression Emong, a low pressure area, and the southwest monsoon, the weather bureau said Monday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have rains with gusty winds due to Emong.

Emong was last spotted 205 km East of Calayan, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 70 kph.

Pagsa said it is moving northwestward at 45 kph.
