PH’s COVID-19 death toll tops 24,000 with 108 more deaths

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 24,036 on Thursday as 108 more succumb to the illness.

Data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed that deaths still account for 1.74 percent of all the 1,378,260 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.

Of this number, 51,410 remain active infections, including 2 percent that are severe and 1.4 percent that are critical and are at a higher risk for death.

There was an average of 108 deaths reported per day from June 18 to 24, lower than the average of 138 fatalities that were added to the count per day from June 11 to 17.
