UPHSD’s Adamos says he’s turning pro

Ben Adamos has announced he will join the Philippine Basketball Association 2021 Rookie Draft, forgoing his final year with the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) Altas in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s basketball tournament.

“I have decided to take it to the next level and join the upcoming PBA Draft,” wrote the 6-foot-6 center Adamos in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Adamos said his main motivation in turning pro is to help his family, financially, in Albay.

The 24-year-old Adamos thanked the Altas for giving him the opportunity to become a better player.

“I want to thank Perpetual for giving me an opportunity to play and be better. I learned a lot and I treat Perpetual as my second home,” said Adamos, who first played collegiate basketball for the Technological Institute of the Philippines in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League before joining the San Beda Red Lions for NCAA seasons 92 and 93.

He joined the Altas in NCAA Season 95.

“I’m grateful to the Tamayo family (owner of UPHSD), Perpetualites, my coaches, teammates who trusted and supported me. Thank you very much. It’s an honor for me, Fuego Altas, Adamos/18 mamba out.”

Last season, Adamos registered 11.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game for Perpetual that finished with a 5-13 record.

Adamos also saw action in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup, where he posted an average of 8.8 points and 7.2 rebounds for the Bacolod Master’s Sardines.
