COVID-19 cases at maritime academy in Zambales rise to 306

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES—At least 49 more cases of COVID-19 were recorded inside the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in San Narciso town, an official said Monday, June 14.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the new patients are cadets aged 19-26. They are among the 82 new cases in the province.

Two of them were asymptomatic, while 47 showed some symptoms of the disease such as fever, cough, colds, sore throat, headache, and body pain. They are now being treated in an isolation facility inside the PMMA.

The academy was placed on lockdown after the first case of the disease was detected there on May 23.

The PMMA has logged 306 infections.
