MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit the waters off northeast of Burgos town in Surigao del Norte, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Thursday.
According to Phivolcs, the tectonic earthquake was located 39 kilometers northeast of Burgos, at a shallow depth of 11 kilometers below the ground.
Due to the movement, Intensity I was felt in Surigao City.
Despite the offshore quake, Phivolcs has not raised any tsunami warnings. No aftershock and no damage were expected with the earthquake.
