MANILA, Philippines — Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Thursday insisted that face shields help protect the public against COVID-19, nixing a proposal to scrap its mandatory use.
Citing epidemiologist Dr. Edsel Salvana, Roque said one is given protection almost equivalent to a vaccine if they wear a face mask, face shield, and observe physical distancing.
“Kakabasa ko lang po ng sinulat ni Dr. Salvana, isang nirerespeto po na epidemiologist, ang sabi niya, talagang nakakatulong pa rin po ang pagsusuot ng face shield,” Roque said in an online briefing.
