MANILA, Philippines — A day after posting a daily death toll of below 50, the Department of Health (DOH) has reported more than 100 fatalities due to COVID-19 again.
DOH said Wednesday that the latest casualties of the severe respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 number to 146, raising nationwide total deaths to 21,158 since the pandemic hit the Philippines last year.
Based on previous case bulletins of the health agency, there were 991 COVID-19 deaths reported from May 27 to June 2, which means an average of 141 fatalities.
Meanwhile, DOH data the week prior — from May 20 to 26 — recorded the demise of 722 patients, which translates to an average of 103 deaths.
