LPA spotted east of Mindanao, not expected to turn into tropical cyclone

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) embedded in the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) was spotted east of Mindanao and may cause rains over southern provinces in the coming days according to state meteorologists.

Satellite images from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday afternoon showed cloud clusters hovering over the southern parts of the Visayas and the eastern parts of Mindanao.

At present, the LPA which is located 885 kilometers east of Mindanao is not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone.
