MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte’s latest directive to arrest people who are not properly wearing face masks is “a knee-jerk draconian idea,” the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) said Thursday.
Duterte, during his pre-recorded address on Wednesday night, said those who are not wearing their face mask properly should be arrested “because otherwise, you can’t protect the public.”
