MANILA, Philippines—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was “entertaining the idea” of building structures in the West Philippine Sea to assert Philippine sovereignty in the area similar to what China is doing to enforce its invalidated territorial claims, according to AFP chief Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.
At a press briefing on Thursday (April 22), Sobejana said the proposal had been sent to the National Task Force in the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS), an inter-agency body led by Malacanang, for its consideration.
