CHR: PH facing ‘a worse state of press freedom’

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is facing “a worse state of press freedom” after it ranked 138th out of 180 countries in the 2021 World Press Freedom Index, the Commission in Human Rights (CHR) said Thursday.

The Philippines placed at 136th from last year’s report released by Reporters sans frontire (Reporters Without Borders).

The report particularly called out President Rodrigo Duterte’s verbal tirades against Inquirer, Rappler, and ABS-CBN.
