DOH sees higher COVID-19 recovery counts as it shifts to daily time-based tagging

MANILA, Philippines — Expect the reported number of COVID-19 recoveries to increase as the Department of Health (DOH) shifts from a weekly to a daily time-based tagging of such cases, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a DOH group chat on Tuesday.

This means that several recoveries that happened during the week would no longer be tallied on a single day — usually during Sunday, like on April 18 when DOH tallied over 72,000 recoveries.

“We are already doing daily time-based tagging instead of the weekly tagging. The increase in recoveries is expected because the cases have increased where more than 95 percent are mild and asymptomatic,” Vergeire said, speaking …
