LEGAZPI CITY — At least 1,389 families or 5,120 individuals were evacuated on Sunday in seven towns in Catanduanes as Typhoon Bising (international name Surigae) threatens the province.
Roberto Monterola, chief of Emergency Operations Center of the province, said as of 1 p.m., 311 families or 1,056 individuals were evacuated in Baras; 52 families or 230 people in Bato; 31 families or 119 peope in Caramoran; 48 families or 179 people in Panganiban; 67 families or 247 individuals San Andres; 15 families or 69 persons in Viga; and 865 families or 3,220 people in Virac town.
Monterola said the other towns are still conducting the mandatory evacuation of residents in high-risk areas.
