DOH reports detection of 642 cases of three COVID-19 variants

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday said that it recorded 642 cases of three different COVID-19 variants in the country.

In a Facebook post of DOH, it said that findings of the University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center and the National Institutes of Health, showed that of the 752 samples they have tested, 266 cases were of the UK variant (B117), 351 were of the South Africa variant (B1351) and 25 were of the Philippine variant (P3).

This brings the latest tally of the UK variant to a total of 658 cases, while the South Africa variant now totals 695 cases, and the Philippine variant to 148 cases overall.
