Egyptian bombmaker, 2 Sayyaf bandits killed in clash with soldiers in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY — An Egyptian bomb maker and two members of the Abu Sayyaf group were killed in a clash with soldiers Friday night, April 16, in Sulu.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr., chief of the military’s Western Mindanao Command, identified the Egyptian as a certain Yusop, said to be the son of the woman who carried out a suicide bombing attack on a military detachment in Indanan town in September 2019.

The two others killed were identified as Abu Khattab Jundullah, also known as Saddam, and a certain Akram.

Vinluan said troops of the Army’s 4th Light Reaction Company clashed with the terrorists for 10 minutes in Ipasan village of Patikul town past 10 p.m. …
